8 Tricks To Get Gorgeous Curls Without Heat Or Products

We all know that creating waves or curls involves breaking and altering the hair structure, which will make hair more fragile and prone to breakage.

Here are some methods for curling hair without heat or chemicals:

  • Trick 1: Braiding for natural waves

Braiding your hair before going to bed can create natural, wavy curls.

Step 1: Start with clean, damp hair

If your hair is freshly washed and still damp, it will be easier to work with and create natural waves.

Step 2: Divide your hair into sections

Divide your hair into sections, separating your hair into 3-4 even parts, depending on the thickness of your hair.

Step 3: Braiding your hair

Start braiding each section of your hair, starting at the roots and working your way to the ends. Make sure each braid is tight and secure. Repeat this process for each section of hair, making sure to braid tightly and securely. Once you have finished braiding each section of hair, secure each braid with a hair tie.

Step 4: Sleep with the braids

Leave the braids in overnight, either sleeping on them or securing them to the side of your head with bobby pins.

Step 5: Unbraid in the morning

In the morning, gently unbraid each section of hair, and separate the waves with your fingers. You can add a light hold styling product, such as hair spray, to hold the natural waves in place and add a polish touch.

  • Trick 2: Old T-shirt for tight waves

Step 1: Start by washing and conditioning your hair. It’s best to use a leave-in conditioner to prevent frizz.

Step 2: Part your hair into sections and clip the rest of your hair up so you can work with one section at a time.

Step 3: Cut an old t-shirt into strips that are about 1 inch wide and 8-10 inches long. Take one section of hair and wrap it around the t-shirt strip, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends. Make sure the t-shirt is tightly wrapped around the hair.

Step 4: Repeat the wrapping process with all sections of hair, making sure each section is tightly wrapped and secured with a knot.

Step 5: Leave the t-shirt strips in overnight, or for at least 4-5 hours. Once you’re ready to take the t-shirt strips out, carefully unravel each section of hair.

Step 5: Use your fingers to gently shape and separate the curls, but be careful not to tousle them too much. If you want extra hold, you can mist your hair with a light hairspray. Now enjoy your gorgeous, bouncy curls!

  • Tricks 3: Flexi rods for retro curls

It's a simple and safe technique to create beautiful curls with Flexi rods, which can be quickly done at home. Here's how you can do it:

Step 1: Start with clean, moistured hair. Avoid using any products that will leave a residue, as this will cause your curls to fall flat.

Step 2: Divide your hair into sections. The smaller the sections, the tighter the curls will be. Roll each section around a Flexi rod, starting at the root and rolling down towards the tips. Ensure that the hair is tightly wrapped around the rod.

Finally, secure the end of the hair to the rod using a hair tie. Repeat this process for each section.

Step 3: If you have particularly long hair, you may want to use multiple Flexi rods in each section, depending on the size of the rods you are using.

Step 4: Let your hair dry completely before removing the Flexi rods. If you're in a rush, you can use a hair dryer to speed up the process. Once the hair is completely dry, carefully remove the Flexi rods. Gently unravel the hair from each rod and let it fall naturally.

Step 5: Use your fingers to gently separate the curls and fluff them out. This will give you a more natural, effortless look. Finally, spray a light hairspray to add extra hold to your beautiful curls.

  • Tricks 4: Perm rods for tight curls

Step 1: Wash and detangle your hair

Cleanse your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to prepare your hair for the perm rods. Use a wide-toothed comb to gently detangle your hair, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots.

Step 2: Part your hair into sections

Divide your hair into sections and secure each section with a hair clip or elastic band.

Step 3: Roll the perm rods

Take a small section of hair and roll it onto the perm rod, starting from the roots and working your way down to the ends. Repeat this process until all sections of hair are rolled. Make sure the rods are tightly secured by twisting the ends together or using a hair tie to secure the perm rods.

Step 4: Let the perm rods set

Leave the perm rods in your hair for several hours, or overnight if possible, to allow the curls to set.

Step 5: Remove the perm rods

Once the curls have been set, carefully remove the perm rods and gently unravel each curl.

Step 6: Style your curls

Use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb to gently comb through the curls and shape them as desired. To define the curls and add shine, apply a light hairspray or curl-defining cream to your hair.

  • Trick 5: Twist Out for loose curls

A twist-out is a natural styling method that creates defined, curly hair. To create curls by twisting out without using heat, follow these steps:

Step 1: Wash and condition your hair:

Cleanse your hair with a gentle shampoo and conditioner to help it stay hydrated. Use a wide-toothed comb or brush to detangle your hair while it's still wet. Apply a leave-in conditioner to your hair to help it stay moisturized and to reduce frizz.

Step 2: Divide your hair into sections:

Divide your hair into 2-4 sections, depending on the thickness of your hair.

Step 3: Twist each section:

Take one section of your hair and divide it into two smaller sections. Twist each of the smaller sections tightly in opposite directions, until the ends are close to your scalp. Repeat this process until you have twisted all of your hair.

Step 4: Allow your hair to air-dry:

Let your hair air-dry completely, which can take anywhere from a few hours to a whole day, depending on the thickness of your hair.

Step 5: Unravel the twists:

Once your hair is completely dry, unravel each twist. Use your fingers to separate and fluff the curls. Apply a holding product like a light oil, pomade, or hairspray to help define and hold the curls in place.

With these ways, you can easily create beautiful curls without using heat and chemicals. These methods can take time, you may need to leave them in shape for several hours or even overnight, but the results are worth it. The beautiful curls will last for 2-3 days, and your natural hair is well protected. You can also refresh your curls with a little water and holding product every morning to keep them looking great. We hope that this post is helpful to you. You can also try a combination of these methods to find what works best for your hair type.
